आमची ओळख · Who We Are

A trust rooted in Belawale, working across rural Maharashtra

Shri Yogiraj Foundation (Belawale) is a public charitable trust registered at Belawale, in Kagal taluka of Kolhapur district — where the black-soil plains of the Panchganga basin meet the first green folds of the Sahyadris.

Though rooted in this soil, our work is not confined to one village. As set out in our objectives, the foundation works toward education and research in agriculture and science — with a special focus on the medicinal plants and ethnobotany of the Western Ghats — alongside sustainable development, environmental conservation, affordable health care, and excellence in rural education. We exist to place a level playing field and world-class knowledge at the doorstep of the rural child and the deserving urban poor, across Kolhapur district and rural Maharashtra.

The foundation is led by Shri Yuvraj Shamrao Waingade, President.

आठवणींची शिदोरी · Our Roots
Before it was a trust, it was an idea shared by like-minded people.

Ask anyone who knows this soil what they remember first, and it is rarely a fact — it is a smell, a sound. The first rain hitting dry red earth in June. Woodsmoke curling up from a chulha before sunrise. Cattle bells drifting home at dusk, past fields turning gold in the last light off the Sahyadris. Elders telling the same stories under the same tree, night after night — and somehow they never grew old.

Shri Yogiraj Foundation began when people who shared this one belief — that the soil which raises us deserves to be given back to — decided to come together and act on it.

This is not charity from a distance. It is people who love this land, choosing to look after it.

आमची मूल्ये · What guides us

We believe progress was never about leaving the village behind. It is about carrying the village forward with us.

प्रगती म्हणजे गाव मागे टाकणे नव्हे, गावाला सोबत घेऊन जाणे.

Rootedness माती

Every rupee, every hour we give stays close to the ground — reaching rural communities across Kolhapur and Maharashtra, not lost to overheads far away.

Service before self सेवा

Trustees give their time without pay. The work of the foundation, like the work of a family, is not billed by the hour.

Open books पारदर्शकता

Every account is kept, every filing published, and every question about where a rupee went is answered honestly.

आमचे कार्य · Our Work

Five threads, drawn from the same objectives

Rooted in Belawale, these are the objectives the foundation works toward across Kolhapur district and rural Maharashtra.

शिक्षण

Education for every child

Encouraging excellence in education across rural Maharashtra, so that a level playing field and world-class knowledge reach the doorstep of the rural child, and of the deserving urban poor — not only those born within reach of it.

आरोग्य

Arogya — affordable health

Affordable and free medical camps, blood donation drives, mother-and-child support, and guidance in ayurveda and yoga alongside modern medicine — health care brought within reach of every family.

कृषी व पर्यावरण

Agriculture and Environment

Education and research in agriculture and science, with a special focus on the medicinal plants and ethnobotany of the Western Ghats — alongside sustainable development, environmental conservation, and free guidance for the farmers who work this land.

समाज

Elders, weddings & festivals

An old-age home for those with no one else, mass weddings for families who cannot otherwise afford one, and the festivals — Bail Pola, Ganesh Chaturthi, Sankranti — kept exactly as our grandparents kept them.

क्रीडा

Kreeda — sport for rural youth

Kho-kho, kabaddi, wrestling, cricket and village vyayamshalas — so the next generation grows up as strong in body as they are rooted in place.

NCMC smart cards distributed to senior citizens at Belawale Khurd

As part of a social initiative by Shri Yogiraj Foundation, the Maharashtra government's National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) — which carries ST bus travel concessions — was distributed to senior citizens of Belawale Khurd. The camp drew an enthusiastic, spontaneous response from residents, and 110 beneficiaries received their cards, handed over by the Foundation's President, Shri Yuvraj Waingade. Women made up a large share of the recipients.

The card works much like a bank card, with a facility to check and top up one's own balance, and is valid for the ST bus pass facility across Maharashtra. Under the scheme, men above 65 years receive half-fare travel and men above 75 travel free; women above 75 travel free, and other women are entitled to half-fare travel — all through this one card.

Also present: Sulochana Sawant, Ramchandra Patil, Punam Sawant, Reshma Sawant, Ankush Sawant, Satappa Sawant, Vandana Sawant, and Radhanagari Agro Centre operator Ashutosh Mandwakar. — As reported in the local Marathi press.

Shri Yuvraj Shamrao Waingade

Yuvraj Shamrao Waingade (M.A., B.Ed.) has spent his life showing up for people before they have to ask twice. As the driving force behind Shri Yogiraj Foundation, his work reaches into education, culture, agriculture, and the quieter, unglamorous work of simply being present for someone in need.

He has taken underprivileged and orphaned children into his own care, seeing them through their upbringing and schooling. Through the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yojana and the Shravanbal Seva State Pension Scheme, he has guided countless elderly and destitute citizens toward support they were entitled to but didn't know how to claim. He stands with persons with disabilities, coaches students preparing for their studies and competitive examinations, and in a medical emergency — the kind that arrives at odd hours, when a family doesn't know where to turn — he is often the first call that gets answered. In the fields around Belawale, he has worked to put seed, grain and support directly into farmers' hands when the season demanded it.

None of this is separate work to him — it is one belief, applied wherever it is needed: that every section of society, given the chance, can become capable and progressive, in its schools, its culture, its fields, and its everyday dignity. That belief is what built Shri Yogiraj Foundation, and it is what continues to guide it.
